Sugar Free Salted Caramel Sauce
Keto Friendly
This creamy, indulgent caramel sauce is sugar free, keto friendly, grain free and gluten free. It has less than 1 net carb per serving.
It’s super quick and easy to make. And goes on almost anything from ice-cream to doughnuts, from cheesecake to brownies. Or maybe you’ll just end up eating it all on its own. It’s that good.
For this recipe you can either use a brown sugar alternative or a caster sugar alternative. I tend to go for the brown sugar alternative.
Alternatively, if you don’t want salted caramel, you can leave the salt out for a standard caramel sauce.
You can make the sauce ahead of time. It’ll last up to a week stored in an airtight jar in the refrigerator. If you are making it ahead of time, you’ll need to add 2 more tablespoons of cream when you add the second lot of cream when taking the sauce off of the heat. (see method below).
The sauce will solidify when stored either in the fridge or at room temperature. you can re-heat it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds, to get it back to a lovely warm salted caramel sauce.

Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 15 mins
Ingredients
4 oz butter
1 cup brown sugar alternative
3/4 cup heavy cream (double cream)
1/2 tspn vanilla
1/2 tspn sea salt
Method
- Mix the butter, sweetener and half of the cream over a medium heat. Stirring well until the sweetener has dissolved.
- Add vanilla and cook until it resembles a golden brown. As soon as it reaches a golden brown colour, remove from the heat and add the rest of the cream. Stir until mixed in and smooth.
- Add the salt and stir it in. (you may want to just add half of the salt and then taste. Everyone’s salty preference is different.)
- Leave for 10 mins before serving.
