Benefits of Lemons
Let’s take a look at the many benefits of lemons. Lemons are full of antioxidants and contain many different vitamins and minerals, this is what makes them a superfood. They are loaded with vitamin C, making them a good go to when we have a cold or flu virus.
Vitamin C is not only a good boost for our immune system, it’s also beneficial for our skin, as it boosts collagen production. It can help you keep a healthy heart, and it’s necessary for the growth and repair of all body tissues. We also need it to help our bodies absorb iron, it can aid with wound healing, and it will keep our bones and teeth strong. Vitamin C aids our immune defense response, as it promotes the production of more white blood cells which are needed to fight off a virus or infection.
Studies have proven the healing properties of lemons. Not only have they been proven to benefit immune health, they have also been shown to help prevent cancer. This is due to the alkalizing effect lemons have on the body. Lemons are acidic, but once inside the body, the minerals separate, and it takes on an alkalizing effect. Cancers live and thrive in an acidic environment, an alkaline body is unfriendly to cancer cells.
Lemon uses
Introducing lemon into your daily diet can be very beneficial. Every morning, when I wake up, the first thing I do is drink a cup of warm water with lemon. I have done this for years, and now I can’t go without it. If I have a salad I always sprinkle it with lemon juice, I have used it when baking, and it goes great with fish.
I also use lemon to make a healing and toning face mask. Mixing lemon juice with honey makes a cheap, effective, quick to make face mask. (see below for instructions).
